HomeDesignsAI Review (2026): Features, Pricing & Verdict

HomeDesignsAI is an AI home-design app that restyles, declutters and virtually stages room photos in about 30 seconds. It is fast and inexpensive for agents who stage their own listings, but it is built for homeowners and designers as much as for real estate, and user reviews flag billing and cancellation friction.

What is HomeDesignsAI?

HomeDesignsAI is a web-based AI design tool that redesigns interiors, exteriors and gardens from a single photo. You upload a picture, choose a style, and the tool returns a photorealistic version in about 30 seconds while, according to the company, keeping walls, windows and layout in place.

It is not a real estate product first: the company markets it to homeowners, interior designers, landscapers, builders and contractors as well as agents. It does have a dedicated page for realtors, pitching one-click virtual staging, room emptying and 'MLS-ready' high-resolution downloads.

Best for

  • Agents who stage vacant listings themselves and want results in seconds rather than days
  • Small teams (up to 5 seats on the Expert plan) that need a high volume of staged and decluttered photos
  • Listing agents who want before-and-after redesign visuals for fixer-uppers

Not for

  • Agents who want a done-for-you staging service with human editors
  • Anyone expecting CRM, MLS or Zapier integrations — there are none
  • Buyers of the Standard plan: it excludes virtual staging and the commercial license agents need
  • Users who want a generous refund window — refunds are limited to 7 days

Where the score comes from

Key features

  • Virtual staging: furnishes empty rooms in one click (Pro and Expert plans only)
  • Declutter and furniture removal to empty occupied rooms before restyling
  • Interior, exterior and garden redesign, with 80 to 200+ styles depending on the plan
  • Sky and weather swap for exterior listing photos
  • Photo-to-video walkthroughs and 2D-to-3D floor plans (Expert plan)
  • Commercial license with no watermark (Pro and Expert)
  • Up to 5 team seats (Expert plan)
  • API and white-label widget for companies, on custom pricing

Pricing

HomeDesignsAI publishes three monthly plans: Standard at $22/month (100 design credits), Pro at $29/month (1,000 credits) and Expert at $37/month (2,000 credits). Yearly billing is advertised at up to 62% off. Prices are displayed in local currency, so visitors outside the US may see different figures.

The detail that matters for agents: Standard does not include virtual staging or the commercial, watermark-free license. In practice, Pro at $29/month is the entry plan for listing work, and Expert at $37/month adds video walkthroughs, 3D floor plans and up to five team seats.

Refunds are limited. Under the company's refund policy (last updated January 2026), subscription refunds must be requested within 7 days and are refused if more than 50 designs were generated in the billing cycle; forgotten renewals are not refunded. You can cancel yourself through the FastSpring customer portal or ask support to do it.

The pricing section also displays an 'Early Bird' discount message with no end date. We quote the regular plan prices.

Pros & cons

Pros

  • Very fast: staged or redesigned photos in about 30 seconds
  • Low monthly cost, with generous credit allowances on Pro and Expert
  • Public pricing and self-serve cancellation through the payment portal
  • Broad toolkit beyond staging: decluttering, exteriors, sky swaps, video walkthroughs
  • Available worldwide, including the US and Canada

Cons

  • Built for a general home-design audience rather than real estate workflows
  • The cheapest plan excludes virtual staging and the commercial license — it is easy to buy the wrong plan
  • No CRM, MLS or Zapier integrations; API pricing is custom
  • G2 reviewers mention errors, inconsistent AI results and features locked behind upgrades
  • Trustpilot reviewers report difficulty cancelling and obtaining refunds; the company replies to most negative reviews
  • The vendor's site advertises a 4.8/5 rating from 2,400+ reviews, while its Trustpilot score was 3.3/5 when we checked (September 2026)

Verdict

HomeDesignsAI delivers on speed and price: an agent can stage and declutter a vacant listing in minutes for the cost of a modest monthly subscription. For self-serve agents and small teams that produce a lot of listing visuals, the Pro or Expert plan is good value.

It scores 62/100 because it is a general home-design tool rather than a real estate platform, it does not connect to the tools agents already use, and user reviews repeatedly raise billing and cancellation issues. If you try it, choose Pro or Expert rather than Standard, set a reminder before renewal, and check your MLS's rules on disclosing virtually staged photos.
